Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Specifications
Display & New Foldable Design
Samsung has taken a different approach with the Galaxy Z Fold 8.
Rather than simply updating the traditional Fold design, the Fold 8 uses a wider and more compact form factor.
The main display features:
- 7.6-inch Foldable Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X
- 120Hz adaptive refresh rate
- HDR10+ support
- Peak brightness up to 3000 nits
- 1848 × 2448 resolution
- 4:3 aspect ratio
- Anti-reflective coating
When folded, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 has a 5.5-inch Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X cover display with a 120Hz refresh rate.
The 4:3 inner display gives the Fold 8 an unusually wide canvas when unfolded, making it particularly suited to web browsing, reading, gaming, video and other content.
Lightweight & Compact Build
One of the biggest changes is weight.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 weighs just 201g, making it the lightest Galaxy Z Fold Samsung has produced.
Dimensions are:
- Unfolded: 161.4 × 123.9 × 4.5mm
- Folded: 81.9 × 123.9 × 9.7mm
- Weight: 201g
The phone uses an Armor Aluminum frame with Gorilla Glass protection and carries an IP48 rating for water and dust resistance.
For users who previously found foldable phones too heavy for everyday use, the reduced weight is one of the Fold 8’s most important improvements.
Performance & Software
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is powered by Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor.
Key specifications include:
- Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 (3nm)
- Adreno 840 GPU
- 12GB RAM on standard configurations
- 256GB, 512GB and 1TB storage options
- UFS 4.x storage
- Android 17
- One UI 9
- Up to 7 major Android OS updates
The combination of flagship hardware and Samsung’s foldable-focused software makes the Fold 8 particularly well suited to multitasking, productivity, gaming and Galaxy AI features.
Samsung DeX is also supported for users who want a desktop-style experience.
Galaxy Z Fold 8 Camera
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 uses a dual rear-camera system:
- 50MP main camera with OIS
- 50MP ultra-wide camera with a 120° field of view
Video recording supports:
- 8K video
- 4K up to 120fps
- Optical image stabilisation
- Gyro-EIS
There are also two 10MP selfie cameras, with one positioned on the main display and another on the cover display.
The Fold 8 therefore offers strong flagship camera hardware, but users looking for a dedicated optical telephoto camera should consider the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra.
Battery & Charging
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 includes a 4,800mAh battery.
Charging support includes:
- 45W wired charging
- 20W wireless charging
- 4.5W reverse wireless charging
The larger battery combined with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is designed to provide strong everyday battery performance despite the large foldable display.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra Specifications
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra takes a different approach.
Instead of focusing primarily on portability, the Ultra is Samsung’s highest-end foldable for users who want a larger workspace, more advanced cameras and maximum productivity.
Larger 8-Inch Foldable Display
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra features:
- 8.0-inch Foldable Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X main display
- 120Hz adaptive refresh rate
- HDR10+
- Peak brightness up to 3000 nits
- 2256 × 2504 resolution
- Anti-reflective coating
The cover display is significantly larger than the one on the standard Fold 8 at 6.5 inches, with a 1080 × 2520 resolution and 120Hz refresh rate.
This gives the Ultra a more traditional smartphone experience while folded, while opening it provides an expansive tablet-like workspace.
Thin Premium Design
Despite having the larger display, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is remarkably thin.
Dimensions are:
- Unfolded: 158.4 × 143.2 × 4.1mm
- Folded: 158.4 × 72.8 × 8.9mm
- Weight: 215g
At only 4.1mm when unfolded and 8.9mm when folded, the Ultra combines its larger displays with a surprisingly slim profile.
It features an Advanced Armor Aluminum frame, Gorilla Glass protection and IP48 water and dust resistance.
Performance & Storage
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra uses the same flagship platform as the Fold 8:
- Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 (3nm)
- Adreno 840 GPU
- Up to 16GB RAM
- 256GB, 512GB and 1TB storage options
- UFS 4.x storage
- Android 17
- One UI 9
- Up to 7 major Android OS updates
Samsung DeX and Ultra Wideband (UWB) are also supported.
200MP Ultra Camera System
Camera performance is one of the biggest reasons to choose the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra over the standard model.
The triple rear-camera system includes:
- 200MP main camera with OIS
- 10MP telephoto with 3× optical zoom and OIS
- 50MP ultra-wide camera with a 120° field of view
Video capabilities include:
- 8K at 30fps
- 4K up to 120fps
- 10-bit HDR
- HDR10+
- Optical image stabilisation
- Gyro-EIS
There are also 10MP cameras on both the main and cover displays.
For photography and especially zoom, the Ultra represents a substantial upgrade over the dual-camera system of the regular Fold 8.
Battery & Charging
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra has a larger 5,000mAh battery.
Charging includes:
- 45W wired charging
- 20W wireless charging
- 4.5W reverse wireless charging
The additional capacity is particularly useful considering the larger 8-inch main display.

Which One Should You Choose?
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 makes more sense if portability is the priority.
At just 201g, it is exceptionally light for a foldable smartphone, while the new 7.6-inch 4:3 display provides a very different experience from a conventional smartphone.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is the stronger option for users who want Samsung’s ultimate foldable experience.
For €130 more when comparing the current 256GB prices, the Ultra adds:
- Larger 8.0-inch main display
- Much larger 6.5-inch cover display
- 200MP main camera
- Dedicated 3× optical telephoto camera
- Larger 5,000mAh battery
- Thinner 4.1mm unfolded design
For buyers who don’t specifically need the lighter and more compact design of the regular Fold 8, the Z Fold 8 Ultra 256GB at €1,999 offers particularly strong value within Samsung’s premium foldable range.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 vs Galaxy Z Fold 7
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 generation marks a significant change in Samsung’s foldable strategy.
Instead of replacing the previous Fold with just one successor, Samsung now offers two different Fold experiences.
The regular Galaxy Z Fold 8 focuses heavily on portability and content consumption, introducing a much lighter 201g body and a new 4:3 main display.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra follows the more familiar productivity-focused Fold concept, combining an 8-inch main display with a 6.5-inch cover display, while adding Samsung’s 200MP main camera and a dedicated telephoto camera.
For existing Fold users, this means the upgrade decision is no longer simply about buying the newest generation — it is also about choosing the Fold form factor that better suits how you use your phone.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Release Date in Cyprus
Samsung officially announced the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra on July 22, 2026.
Both devices form part of Samsung’s eighth-generation Galaxy Z foldable lineup and are now available.
Buyers in Cyprus can choose between 256GB, 512GB and 1TB storage options, depending on model availability and stock.
Is the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Worth It?
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is one of the most unusual Samsung foldables yet.
Its combination of a 201g body, 7.6-inch 4:3 foldable display, flagship Snapdragon performance and 4,800mAh battery makes it particularly attractive to users who want the advantages of a large foldable screen without carrying a particularly heavy device.
The Fold 8 Ultra is aimed at a different buyer.
Its 8-inch display, 200MP main camera, optical telephoto camera and 5,000mAh battery make it better suited to users looking for maximum productivity, photography and screen space.
Both models also benefit from Samsung’s long-term software support, making them more suitable for buyers planning to keep their foldable for several years.
Which Galaxy Z Fold 8 Storage Size Should You Buy?
For most users, 256GB provides enough storage for apps, photos and everyday use.
The 512GB versions are better suited to users who take large amounts of photos and video, install many games or plan to keep the phone for several years.
The 1TB models are primarily aimed at power users, content creators and buyers who want maximum local storage without relying heavily on cloud services.
None of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 models support expandable microSD storage, so choosing the right capacity when purchasing is important.
